Nina is employed by Miami Valley Child Development Centers, Incorporated, as Program Manager for the Edison T.O.T.S. (Taking Off To Success) Program, an early learning initiative that supports families with raising happy and healthy children who enter school ready to learn.
She has worked in the field of youth, family and community development for seven years. Nina received her Master’s degree in Public Administration in 2006, a BA degree in 2004 in Mass Communication with a minor in African/African American Studies, and national certification in Nonprofit Management and Leadership---all from Wright State University. She is an advisory board member for Hannah’s Treasure Chest (Centerville, Ohio) and board member for Life Skills, Inc. and Parity, Inc. both of Dayton, Ohio.
Nina has been actively engaged with the Wright State University’s Nonprofit Leadership Alliance as a student (2004-2006) and alum (2006-present). She has held numerous positions within the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance Alumni Society, such as acting vice president, fundraising committee co-chair, and most recently treasurer. Nina is committed to ensuring that NLA, both nationally and locally, increases its membership numbers and actively engages its members in an effort to positively impact the nonprofit sector’s growing need for capable and compassionate leaders.
She is married to Parris L. Carter (also a Wright State grad in 1997 and 1999), and they have two beautiful children, Nya Michele and Parris Jr. They are anxiously awaiting the birth of their third child, Princeton Elijah.
