Who are we?

Founded in 2001, the African American Alumni Society collaborates with the Wright State Alumni Association to sustain and enhance the rich history and contributions of Wright State's African and African American students, alumni, faculty, and staff.

Mission statement

The African American Alumni Society shall develop, plan, implement, and promote diverse activities in the effort to provide support for the continuing success of Wright State University's African American student, alumni, faculty, and staff. Our hope is to help Wright State provide a supportive and productive environment in which African Americans can study, teach, and develop as individuals.

The AAAS’s primary focus will be to assist Wright State educationally, financially and in the recruitment of African American students, faculty and administration.

The African American Alumni Society exists to provide assistance and support for the continuing success of Wright State University’s African American students, faculty and staff through diverse activities and services, and enriched camaraderie for its members; through assisting, recruiting and retaining African-American students, faculty and administration; and being an advisory organization to the Bolinga Black Cultural Resources Center.
